I recently came across a documentary on Amazon Prime called American Visionary: The Story of Barbara Marx Hubbard. It was quite inspiring in that she devoted her life to a dream of what the future could be. Her perspective was that she believed that the human race is on the brink of an enhanced way of existing. Her book Conscious Evolution: Awakening the Power of Our Social Potential written and published in 1998 highlights her futurist ideas in making a better society, newfound scientific knowledge, technological advances that combine our compassion and creativity as well as focusing on what the conscious mind can do if it is aware of its power. …she wrote “we are now changing our understanding of how nature evolves; we are moving from unconscious evolution through natural selection to conscious evolution by choice.” The documentary is poignant in that she only just recently passed away last year on April 10th at the age of 89 years old. She left quite a legacy, positioning herself creatively and strategically in ways she could get her message out. She gave a symbolic speech at the democratic convention, after being the 1st woman nominated for vice president on the democratic ticket, before endorsing the already assured Walter Mondale & Geraldine Ferraro ticket. She was a great supporter of NASA and spoke at the United Nations about creating a Peace Room…. she created a movement and inspired millions world wide.
